England, Spain and Germany are moving forward being on top of their groups and are even closer to World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
They say winning is winning, no matter if it is by an inch or a mile, and for England, it all went perfectly planned. The Three Lions won on an easy 5-1 against Kazajistan this past Sunday October the 12th, consolidating on top of UEFA group 6 for the World Cup 2010 qualifications.
However, in the first half, the English Team looked much disorganized; Gerrard was giving the impression that he didn’t know where he was supposed to be. Oddly, Gerrard, Lampard and Barry were crowded into the same central midfield.
Later, the English team realized how significant Wayne Rooney is when he is there and after 2 great goals, he left no disbelief about it. We know for sure that England will classify for the World Cup. Even though, it is early to make a statement on whether or not are they able to win the Cup; we will allow some time to pass before writing a brief article on top credentials.
On group 5, La Roja keeps counting victories and after defeating Estonia 3-0 this past weekend, they became the cream of the crop on their conference and the victory also extended Spain's triumphant run to 26 matches and saw the team break a national record for not conceding. Manager Vicente del Bosque could inscribe Marcos Senna to substitute Xabi Alonso in midfield and has informed his players that Belgium will prove to be a harder opponent than Estonia.
With an opening score from Juanito, Manager Vicente del Bosque put his faith on David Villa, who scored at 37th minute, and super star Carles Puyol who scored the third in the 68th and who is always aware of his limits, but still leaves his body and soul on the football field. Another record on the table for the Spanish team was the 692 no score minutes on Captain Iker Casillas’s area, no wonder he has become an emblem in Real Madrid and one of the best goalkeepers in the history of Spanish La Liga.
As well, one of the best games played this weekend was Germany vs. Russia. The 32 year old German midfielder Michael Ballack proved why he is an icon on the team. Full-size, well-built, outstanding and a leader on the field, Ballack scored on the 28th putting the Red army in a position they could not overcome. Three-time world champion Germany sits at the crest of Group 4 with seven points from three matches and looks certain they will make it to the competition in South Africa 2010.
England, Spain and Germany did very good presentations this past weekend, it makes no difference if they played easy or hard teams, they are true leaders of their groups, but much more is to come, especially playing the top teams of the other divisions. The story is repeating once more and for a good reason; South Africa 2010 is around the corner and whoever did not pack their bags, will stay behind.
