Thome achieve his 500-HR against the Angels
By Alfred Johnson
Last Sunday, in the game where the Chicago Mets 9-7 defeated Los Angeles Angels, Jim Thome reached his 500 home runs. He is the 3rd player this season to reach 500 home runs, and the 23rd in the over all.
Raising his arm in joy as he rounded the bases he celebrated, not just that he reached the mark but the fact that it won the game for the Chicago White Sox. Afterwards he said: "Just can't believe it. I really can't. I would never have imagined doing that as a walk-off. Just amazing to see your teammates standing there. It's like a movie script."
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, this is the first time a player hit a game-ending homer for No. 500 and the first time three players make the same deed in one season.
Jim hit his No.499 last Wednesday and then finally connected in his fifth at-bat Sunday. Chicago rallied from a 7-1 deficit.
Thome came to Chicago in a trade before last season, after playing 12 seasons with Cleveland and three with the Phillies.
In the seventh inning the Angels scored four but Chicago achieved to reach them with four in the bottom half as Josh Fields hit a three-run homer off Chris Bootcheck to turn the score 7-5 to the White Sox and during the two last innings Chicago dominated the game.
