Spanish League - Real Madrid goes after Tévez

Real Madrid, one of the most outstanding and recognized teams in the European football for its 31 championships in the Spanish League, is looking to hire the most suitable player to substitute Gonzalo Higuain, who will be out four to six months due a herniated disc that required surgery last January 11.

Real Madrid is looking for some big names to cover the striker. Their first option was the Dutch Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who played with the Whites from 2006 to January 2010 when he was hired by the Hamburg SV of Germany. During his period with the Real Madrid, the Dutch played in 68 games and scored 46 goals.

Van Nistelrooy has an extensive experience in European football. Before playing in Real Madrid, Ruud was a consolidated player in the Dutch football during his first eight years of his professional career. Later he had an important 5-year period with Manchester United where he scored 150 goals in 219 games.

Van Nistelrooy suffered from some injuries at the end of his career in the Real Madrid and this kept him out of the court on several occasions. Nevertheless, Real Madrid recognizes his talent and that is why he was considered as the first choice to replace Higuain, news that was warmly received by the Dutch.

However, Ruud’s contract with Hamburg expires until next June and the German team has no intention of letting him go yet. Therefore, the Real Madrid appealed immediately to contact the Argentine Carlos Tevez as a second choice.

Tevez is, undoubtedly, another great international player. The Argentine striker started his professional career when he was only 16-years playing with the Boca Juniors in the Argentine’s first division, where he remained during four seasons. With Boca, Tevez registered 26 goals in 75 games winning the opening championship title, the Copa Libertadores and the International Cup in 2003, and the Copa Sudamericana in 2004. He also had a brief stint in Brazilian football playing for the Corinthians, helping them to win the Brasileirao Serie A Championship in 2005.

Tevez started his career in the English Premier League playing one season with the West Ham United. Then he moved to the Manchester United where achieved two Premier League Championships, the 2007-08 UEFA Champions League title and the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup among other titles. Since July 2009, the Argentine moved to the Manchester City and although he hasn’t won any titles with the citizens, he has scored 37 goals in 55 games.

With respect to the negotiations to move Tevez to Real Madrid, there is an advantage for the Spanish team because Tevez himself has expressed his desire to leave the citizens. However, the whites only want him as a loan and the City is asking 40 million Euros for the striker. Tevez is in very good moment in his career now, so he seems like the best choice to fill Higuain’s position.

The players Emmanuel Adebayor, Miroslav Klose and Nelson Valdez have been also options to replace Higuain, but they have been discarded by the meringues.

Real Madrid is in a fierce battle with the FC Barcelona for the first position on the Spanish League table, which has been mostly occupied by the Catalans this season, so the Whites must make a decision soon because the Transfer Market is closing on January 31st.
