In the UEFA league Palermo beat Livorno 1-0 on Saturday, concluding a run of three straight wins and securing a place in the UEFA Cup tournament. The Sicilian team has the second place in worst defense in the league with an accumulative of three goals less than the last team in the table Cagliari, but it advanced with 28 points from the previous 20 games. They presently remain in the sixth place with Sampdoria taking up one of three berths given for the continental competition.
