West Virginia officials confirmed on Wednesday that the team would miss its starting point guard Darryl “Truck” Bryant for the rest of the NCAA postseason. Bryant broke his right foot, fracturing the fifth metatarsal. As he needs time to recover, he will be out for the rest of the postseason.
Bryant stated that his foot had been bothering him for several days before he discovered he had a fracture; Coach Bob Huggins said he wasn’t sure if Bryant broke his foot during practice last week or during last week’s NCAA tournament games. Huggins lamented Bryant’s loss for the season, but will try to manage the rest of the team’s games without the player.
Bryant’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for West Virginia, as the team is heading to the final stage of the NCAA tournament this year. He started 31 of the team’s 35 games this season, averaging 9.3 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game.
Bryant will be replaced by Joe Mazzulla, a junior who has been recovering from a fractured growth plate in his right shoulder. Mazzulla’s injury, which occurred in December 2008, left the player out of the 2009 year; in 2010, he has only been playing an average of 14.9 minutes per game. Despite this fact, Mazzulla has been doing well this season; in a game against Missouri, he completed 1-for-5 from the field, had two assists and two turnovers.
There is doubt, though, that Mazzulla’s mental and physical condition are strong enough for him to take the responsibility of a starting point guard for the rest of the postseason, especially since the upcoming games will not be easy for West Virginia. Mazzulla is the best point guard West Virginia has on its roster at this point.
Huggins, however, has faith in Joe, who has been averaging 2.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game but had 15 assists in the last three games.
"It hurts our depth a little bit," West Virginia coach Bob Huggins said on Tuesday night. "But Joe is ready. He's been playing really well for us. He shot the ball really well in practice and in the games. He'll be fine."
Mazzulla has been working on his shooting skills this season, since the injury limited his shooting mobility.
The Mountaineers played the No. 11-seeded Washington Huskies on Thursday night’s East Regional semifinals at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York. The Huskies are led by Isaiah Thomas, who averages 17.1 points and 3.1 assists per game.
After a very bad start this season, the Huskies are looking to advance to the final eight for the first time since 1953, when the team was able to advance to the final four.
On the other hand, West Virginia is looking to get to the regional finals for the second time since 2005, when the team was defeated by Louisville on overtime.

The cast of Bridesmaids
Let’s just get this out of the way right now: bridesmaids bridesmaids is not the female version of The Hangover. A wedding premise nominally propels the plot and the women of the bridal party are utterly mismatched but for their identical hideous purple Fritz Bernaise dresses. But they do not go to Las Vegas. There isn’t a bachelorette party. The only mystery this motley crew has to solve is what took Judd Apatow so long to produce a great female ensemble comedy.
Directed by Apatow crony Paul Feig (who wrote/directed Freaks and Geeks) and written by Kristen Wiig (who stars) with Annie Mumolo and produced by the bromantic comedy king, plus size gowns plus size gowns Bridesmaids is ostensibly a Superbad for the Virginia Slims set. Imagine if, instead of being sentimental about female friendships, Steel Magnolias was filthy and often really, really funny. With well-timed sex jokes that ring true enough to laugh even harder. It’s bawdy and a bit rowdy — the comedy equivalent of a Lady Remington shaver in that it’s just as good as the original Remington for men, only a bit smaller — and pink.
Annie (Wiig, of SNL and Knocked Up fame) and best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph) are a latter-day Laverne and Shirley — completely different personalities but with an easy rapport that long-time girlfriends have. “He calls me dude a lot,” plus size gowns ; 2011 homecoming dresses Lillian says, commiserating about her guy while giving hopelessly single Annie the “you’re a total catch” pep talk over brunch. BFFs until wedding do they part.
Lovable loser Annie has hit bottom — she’s a baker whose beloved bakery has gone under, draining everything she had (including her self-confidence) and isn’t up to her elaborate maid of honour duties. The ragtag gang of bridesmaids is not amused, and with another script or cast, white strapless dresses white strapless dresses throwing a newlywed, a desperate housewife, a socialite and a super-butch together for laughs might have devolved into caricature. But here, each of them is more than stock character. Thanks to what feels like inspired improv mermaid dresses mermaid dresses, sometimes it feels like there’s a whole other movie going on in the background of a scene.
Still, Annie keeps screwing up — although it’s difficult to completely believe Wiig as hapless because she radiates such natural charm, smarts and sass, even in the many throwaway lines she sneaks in almost under her breath. At Lillian’s lavish engagement party, when the flawless socialite glides over in with a full-on designer gown and takes over Annie’s role, we know there’s going to be trouble at the henhouse.
Before we get to Annie’s extended existential crisis, however, let’s pause long enough to contemplate the possibility of a Fight Club-themed bridal shower where guests win prizes for guessing the bride’ graduation dresses graduation dresses;s weight. And to Google Chris O’Dowd, who plays Annie’s sweetly funny love interest, a state trooper named Rhodes, because the puppy-eyed actor is totally the Irish Jason Segel.
Annie’s mother (Jill Clayburgh, in her final film role) repeatedly suggests “maybe this is your bottom.” Hardly! Before reaching the altar, there are trials on an airplane, a tennis death match and a visual drive-by gag. Some of these feel like excuses to cobble together extended skits — you can practically hear the writers’ room relishing the clever comedy cameos, like Annie’s unctuous roommate Gil (Matt Lucas, one half of Little Britain) to douche-with-benefits Ted (Jon Hamm). And why not? With a talented actor and gifted physical comedienne like Wiig — bridal dresses ; equal parts goofy Carol Burnett and wise-cracking Lily Tomlin. Be sure to stop laughing long enough to take in the entirety of her erect penis pantomime.
Food poisoning, combined with a hushed bridal salon carpeted wall-to-wall in ivory, provides the requisite Apatowian toilet humour set piece (literally; and the kicker might make you pee yourself). Because even Mr. Creosote has nothing on the tension that builds while Wiig slowly crunches an almond, bridal dress special occasion dresses as though it were a wafer-thin Monty Python mint.
