Favre had 33 touchdown passes to just 7 interceptions this season, more than enough for a player his age. He is still in great condition, and the Vikings have given him all the support he needed in this first year with them.

The Vikings moved to the playoffs after their victory over the Philadelphia Eagles last week. They had a week off to rest then come back recharged to face the Dallas Cowboys. In previous years, Favre may have been fatigued at this point in the season, but the week off gave him time to rest, physically and mentally. He anticipates a win on Sunday.

“Honestly, I see us sitting here next week having this press conference again,” Favre said. “If that doesn’t happen, to me it will be a shock. So I just haven’t thought about what next year will be like, or what I will be doing next week.”

Vikings coach Brad Childress is very pleased with Favre’s development on the team. One of the things that worried the Vikings most was Favre’s arm, but the quarterback has had no trouble. For Childress, so long as Favre made the throws he needed, the team was on track.

The Dallas Cowboys are also preparing for Sunday’s game against he Vikings. Dallas coach Wade Phillips stated that the game on Sunday would be a tough one and that he admired Favre and the Vikings for their accomplishments this season. He acknowledged Favre as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Dallas’ starting quarterback, Tony Romo, has had a difficult if successful season. The pressure to enter the playoffs has only increased, but Romo has been able to set several personal records this season. He set personal bests for passing yards (4,483), quarterback rating (97.6), and touchdown-to-interception ratio (26-9).

Besides that, Romo has to face the ghosts of the past, the memory of playoff nightmares against Seattle in 2006 and the New York Giants in 2007. However, Romo is unfazed. He stated that all quarterbacks had had similar experiences. Now, he and his team are taking it one step at a time.
