Santana is ready for the Mets

Johan Santana finished his final step in what could be the biggest contract extension for a pitcher in the history of Major League Baseball.

On Saturday he passed his physical, which was the last thing on the list for him to complete in order to be traded off to the New York Mets and had a conference call scheduled with the team later that day.

Bonderman out for rest of '07 season due to an elbow injury

By Alfred Johnson

Right-hander Tigers' Jeremy Bonderman will not able to play the rest of the 2007 season due to a distressing elbow injury that is not getting better, this was confirmed last Sunday by Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland, after the Seattle Mariners beat Detroit 14-7.

Bonderman made six runs and seven hits in 1 1/3 innings, being the shortest outing of his five-year career, -in what might end up being his final season.

Bonderman hopes his elbow will be well when the doctors examine to him next Monday. It's frustrating, but at least now we're going to find out the reason why this is happening," he said. "I've had it for a while, and it's been getting worse over a period of time.''

Thome achieve his 500-HR against the Angels

By Alfred Johnson

Last Sunday, in the game where the Chicago Mets 9-7 defeated Los Angeles Angels, Jim Thome reached his 500 home runs. He is the 3rd player this season to reach 500 home runs, and the 23rd in the over all.

Craig Biggio’s career coming to an end

Houston Astros’s infielder Craig Biggio is planning on ending his 20th consecutive season with the team at the end of the 2007 Major League Baseball season being the longest tenured player in franchise history.

Craig Biggio became part of the 3,000 hit club on June 28, 2007 also becoming the 27th baseball player to achieve this and the first Astros player to reach that number of hits while still playing for the team.

Biggio is the only player in major league history with 600 doubles, 250 homers, 3,000 hits, 400 steals and a career .282 hitter, which led him to be introduced into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. He as well led the Astros to four division titles, the team's first NL pennant and trip to the World Series in 2005.

Truth or Cheat

Just a bit of dirt or a cheat to tie the series? A good question with a lot of mystery involved and odd answers; whatever the matter it was a dirty Sunday night.

TV cameras captured dirt or a brown looking type of substance on Rogers pitching hand. Cardinals stated that his pitches were very unique during the first inning, however at the start of the second inning the mysterious substance was no longer there.

Rogers claimed that it was a big clump of dirt and that he simply wiped it off, no need to make an issue over the deal.

Another good question would be the silence of Tony La Russa. Someone who is always looking for commotion and all of a sudden so quiet sounds pretty fishy to me, or dirty you could say in this situation. And still he remained in the game as if nothing ever happened.

After Finishing the 88-Year Curse the Cubs Back to the Bad Run

Only one season after they broke the 88-year curse, the Chicago White Sox will watch the postseason on their TVs as 21 other teams play against each other for the Pennants and for the World Series. Suffering a 14-1 loss they couldn't defend their division crown, and they definitely won't repeat as American League or World Series champions. On Monday night, the Chicago White Sox faded to black.

After adding Thome to their lineup with a trade last winter, Chicago came into this season favorite by most to make another appearance at the World Series championship. But, things stumbled from the start. The White Sox first found themselves chasing the surprising Detroit Tigers and then couldn't keep pace with the Twins, who trailed Chicago by a half-game on Sept. 1 before pulling away.

Better Youth Baseball Gloves

Body:

A good ball glove can have a big effect on youth’s enjoyment of playing baseball and even about whether baseball is a worthwhile sport for them to participate in. Kids could be playing many other sports, and in fact, participation in basketball and soccer is growing fast in the US. There’s no better summer sport or pastime than baseball though. It has a rich American tradition that other sports don’t possess and that’s an important part of your own child’s sports experience.

Baseball is a game that is dependent on equipment though, and if the equipment is poor quality or in doesn’t suit the kids using them, it can dampen their enthusiasm for little league baseball. It’s important to buy youth baseball gloves for your child, not small adult baseball gloves which will discourage your youngster.

BaseBall Bats - America's Favorite Sport

Body:

America's National Pastime reached its Zenith of glory by 1860s. Alexander Joy Cartwright modernized the game in 1845 to almost its present form. However, the specifications to baseball bats kept changing with each innovation and need. The innovations changed bat materials to the present aluminum alloy from the classical wooden.

Although whole of baseball gear has undergone a complete makeover, nothing has changed as much and as fast as the bat. There are many different kinds of bats designed for Little Leagues, Senior Leagues, college, and pros. Each coalition has a congeal of parameters for keg diameter and loop dimensions. It can be unconditional overwhelming when you consider the variety of baseball bat brands, materials, styles, and qualities.

Selecting The Right Baseball Bat For More Home Runs

Body:

Baseball bats can be made from many materials, but two of the most popular materials for wooden bats are hard rock maple and northern white ash. Rock maple bats are known for their durability and heavy hitting power but are heavy and can get to be a bit expensive. The white ash bats are more of a lightweight bat but won't stand up to every pitch the way a maple bat will. Each baseball player has his own preference as to which type of bat will help him hit that home run.

A hard rock maple bat is less likely to split when batting. Since maple is a hardwood it is quite dense giving the bat it's holding power. As with anything, however, the way the bat is made has a lot to do with whether or not it will hold up. With a rock maple bat, you want to make sure it is manufactured from wood that has a straight grain. Not all manufacturers adhere to the same quality standards and some may not pick the straightest wood to build their bats from.
