Utah Jazz head Coach Jerry Sloan turned into the NBA’s fifth coach to win 1,000 games in the league after a victory led by Carlos Boozer of 101-79 against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.

The 64 year-old and two-time NBA All Star, when he was a player, started his coaching career back in 1979 with the Chicago Bulls and has already completed 18 seasons. Jerry Sloan has been with the Utah Jazz since the 1988 season.

Pau Gasol Remains A Grizzly

Although Pau Gasol recognizes the rumors of a possible trade, Memphis Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley, ruled out these rumors by assuring that the star is going to stay with the Grizzlies despite the fact that the team is up for sale.

In fact Heisley’s exact words were, "There's no damn way that anybody is going to trade Pau Gasol," "I'm telling you that ain't going to happen. That's out the window."

Apparently the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls are two of the teams that are believed to have interest in getting Gasol to play for their team.

Gasol also admits that his name has appeared several times in the paper but that he is not worried about the matter at this time. He is recently recovering from foot surgery and expected to return by the end of the year.

Big East Team’s Future Not Looking Good

Although some coaches have confidence in locking in eight or nine teams, the losses for the sixteen-team conference may not secure many places for the NCAA Tournament, due to various teams having trouble winning both away games and at home. They’ll be lucky if six teams reach the tournament.

The conferences losing streak started when DePaul lost against Bradley on the 11th of November and lost by double digits to Northwestern. Just two nights later Notre Dame lost at home to Butler. St. John’s, which was ranked to be in the middle of the Big East, was knocked down by a slackly Maryland and one night after were defeated by a rookie Texas. Seton Hall and the Rutgers both lost to teams in the bottom half of the Ivy League. To top it off one the Top Ten National Teams, being Georgetown, lost at home to Villanova and Old Dominion.

NBA’s New Set of Rules May be a Little Out of Line

The Denver Nuggets were the first team that learned a lesson when it comes to the new rules that apply now on NBA basketball, this when Carmelo Anthony was expelled from a game for frowning. This should serve as an example and every team must be fully aware now that things are not the same now with a new commander to the ship. Now to be in the NBA you must be a solid citizen, an obedient player and keep your shirt tucked in.

But do not get surprised just yet; it goes for fans, too. Fans may not disturb and players may not aggravate. The first one to learn that lesson was an Orlando season-ticket holder named Hooman Hamzehloui, he was banished from attending any more games at any of the NBA’s arenas after calling out racial insults at Magic’s star Dikembe Mutombo.

Do You Know How To Select A Regulation Basketball Hoop

Body:

A key basketball court dimension for installation purposes is the distance from the baseline to the face of the backboard. In a setting where sanction play will occur the dimension from the baseline to the face of the backboard will be 4'. Obviously if your goal is to insert a pole type basketball system in a residential setting this option could significantly lessen the playing area of the court. As mentioned above 4' is the rule for sanctioned play but in a residential setting the closer you can get to this dimension without significantly diminishing the playing area is preferred.

A regulation basketball hoop that is used for NBA and NCAA tourneys is quite different to the hoops used at home. A tournament committee that ensures that the playing conditions are uniform for all the teams decides its size and dimensions. Any change in the dimensions, design or color of the regulation hoop is communicated to participating teams well in advance so that they face no problem on match days.
