The Los Angeles Lakers officially announced this Wednesday that they have signed Spanish forward Pau Gasol to a three year contract extension worth $57 million and can be up to $64.5 million. He will earn $18,714,150 in 2011-12, $19,000,000 in 2012-13 and $19,285,850 in 2013-14 plus he will earn $16.4 million this season and $17.8 next season.
Following two losses in their previous meetings against the Mystics, the New York Liberty finally obtained a 60-59 victory this past Sunday. The win is the Liberty’s ninth of the year, although the team remains in last place of the Eastern Conference with an overall record of 9-15.

After a three-game losing streak, the Connecticut Sun finally enjoyed a resounding victory on Sunday, beating the Detroit Shock 83-65. Despite losing against Chicago on Saturday, Connecticut came prepared to triumph against Detroit no matter what. Lindsay Whalen and Asjha Jones gave stellar performances, scoring 22 and 20 points, respectively.
In the most recent battle between the Seattle Storm and the Los Angeles Sparks, fans saw some real basketball: the win was decided in triple overtime, an impressive game for many WNBA followers. Seattle had a particularly astounding game; with Sue Bird’s three-pointers as well as a 13-0 run in the third overtime, Seattle ended the game with a 98-87 victory.
