How Can I Stop Yo-Yo Dieting?


Education! Knowing what to eat, how much to eat and having the will power to stop. I have found that has been my problem. I did not know how to eat. Learning about your bodies requirements can mean the difference between success and failure. To sustain weight loss you need to be able to live with your day to day choices.

Most of us at one stage or another have tried numerous types of diets which work really well to begin with, but results change as the months go by. In the beginning you feel great, the weight begins to wane, you start to feel good about yourself then things slow down. Depression sets in and you start to eat more of the wrong type of foods, instant weight gain. Most of us have been there.

Being able to learn how your body works in conjunction with food and exercise is the key. If we were to listen carefully, I am sure that it would say you don't have to run miles a day, give up all the foods that keep you sane or there is no need to limit your calories to 500 a day. To me, miracle diets do not exist. I'm sure there are a lot of diets out there that work really well, but unless you get the education behind you, eventually they will fail.

If you learn how foods react and what the correct balances are then you have learned a new skill. If you adopt this skill into your lifestyle then you will gain control of your health. Gaining control of your health leads to better self-esteem. Why not learn the basics and be forever out of the weight loss circuit.

Skills have a habit of becoming an everyday occurrence where they are not looked upon as a "must do" but are tasks that we do naturally in our day to day activities. I am sure once you have the knowledge and start using it, given time you will not realise that you are trying to stick to a regime. Don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
