SAVVY motorists can now make some easy money while stuck in the commuter crawl every day.

A firm is offering to pay drivers for the use of their vehicles as mobile advertising hoardings.By agreeing to display a removable magnetic advertising sign, drivers can earn $40 a day for doing nothing out of the ordinary.

Signrider will match cars and companies to meet a particular audience."Regardless of a car's age, size or colour, we can match it with advertising campaigns " said Signrider boss David McGree.

Car owners sign up online, detailing their driving habits and vehicle. Prospective advertisers list their campaign and motorists then enter an auction to try to win the bid.

"There are 14 million cars in Australia and all we want is a small percentage," Mr McGree said.

Michael Wloszczak, from Instant Shade Umbrellas, has embraced the concept. He said: ''We have a few signwritten vehicles in our fleet and get good sales from their presence on the road.
"I'd definitely think about using private cars to get the message out in the suburbs - probably convertibles, for our product."
