English Premiere League- Chelsea crushes West Bromwich Albion by 6-0

Chelsea FC began its 2010-2011 English Premiere League season with an overwhelming victory over the West Bromwich Albion squad, a team that has just recently made it to England’s most prestigious and competitive football league. Let’s just say that this was somewhat of a harsh welcoming party for the Albion.

Chelsea, the Premiere League’s defending champion, proved that they are going to put on a great fight to defend their current title.

Chelsea was certainly controlling the ball on the Stanford Bridge Stadium. This dominance gave the guys from Chelsea the chance to open up the scoring early on the game. After 6 minutes of play, the big chance came for the French player Florent Moluda. He made a great solo play and gave Chelsea its first goal.

For a moment, after the first goal was scored, the English Premiere league defending champions seem to bring down their guard. For a moment, it was the players of West Bromwich who opened up the gap and made their way into Chelsea’s defensive end. It seemed as if the visiting team was about to tie things on the game.

Despite their evident superiority, the guys from Chelsea kept on with a low profile. Most of the first half was played under a slow tempo. It was not until the last minute in the first half that the home team was able to expand their lead. Didier Drogba made a nice play and brought in the second goal for Chelsea.

Chelsea went on the half-time break with a good advantage.

In the second half Chelsea pressed from the start. For their part, the Bromwich were unable to match the performance level of its opponents.

Drogba made his presence felt again on the pitch in the 55th minute. With another big play he went through the opposing defense and fired a powerful shot that went into the back of the net of Scott Carson’s goal.

With a score of 3-0 in its favor, Chelsea looked powerful and unstoppable. After this goal Albion found it very difficult to enter the opposite area.

Encouraged by the considerable goal difference from Chelsea's devoted to press Albion with fast and direct plays. Frank Lampard helped to increase the score to 4-0 after 63 minutes.

The big difference in the score overshadowed even more the guys from Bromwich. At this point of the match they were not even able to move beyond the center of the field.

Chelsea moved through the field with total hegemony. West Bromwich Albion was no longer able to defend itself. Striker Drogba appeared again in the 68th minute to score his third goal, to make it clear the he was the man of the match.

Albion could do nothing but stay in its area awaiting the arrival of the rivals, who, despite the 5-0 in his favor, did not lower their tempo.

Chelsea's attacks were so strong and direct that the West Bromwich ran out of energy to protect their own goal. Malouda, the same player that opened the scoring, was commissioned to mark the sixth goal of the game in the 90th minute. This ended the game with a lopsided 6-0 in favor of the champions of England.
