So chat rooms have been making the headlines. Warnings about predators and stalkers lurking and waiting for easy prey. Honestly you are at a higher risk going to the local super market than you are in a chat room.

My wife and I have been operating a chat room for approximately 18 months now. We have met so many wonderful and caring people. There are always a few who are obnoxious but they don't stay around long. We have many visitors that are just looking for a little companionship and social interaction. Some are actually home-bound and the chat is their only connection with people outside their immediate family.

It has been our goal to provide a safe environment for people to converse and enjoy themselves. It is kind of like stopping in at a local coffee shop or tavern and catching up on all the day's events with friends. A chat room can be a great experience and we hope to change public opinion.

In the last six months our site visitor list has doubled in size so we must be doing something right. We do insist on restricting the room to adult visitors. The majority of people are 30 or older. In fact we have some visitors over 70. Although we keep the kids out, we are not a sex chat. We feel that sex chats are a dime a dozen. We want a place where anyone can visit and feel comfortable.
